Midsize or Standard?
This design comes in Midsize (5.31" W × 5.31" H), a little larger on every side than a Standard 2-gang plate (about 4.56" W × 4.5" H). The extra coverage hides paint lines, wallpaper edges and the outline of an old plate. Standard is the classic size that matches most builder plates.
How to measure
- Measure the outside edges of your current plate, width first, then height.
- Compare with the size above.
- Check for door trim, cabinets or a backsplash edge close by, since Midsize needs a little more room.
If your old plate hides paint lines or wallpaper edges, or you're not sure, choose Midsize. Our plates fit standard U.S. switches, outlets and electrical boxes.

The toggle opening fits classic flip-up, flip-down switches, and most rotary (knob) dimmers are built to fit a toggle plate. GFCI outlets, paddle dimmers and most smart switches use the larger rocker opening, so they need a rocker plate.

Yes. Every plate comes with color-matched mounting screws.
If any are missing from your order, email contact@riosalto.com with your order number and we'll help.
- Turn off power to the switch or outlet at the breaker.
- Remove the screws and the old plate.
- Check that the switch or outlet sits straight and level with the wall.
- Hold the new plate in place and start each screw by hand.
- Tighten until snug. Don't overtighten.
- Turn the power back on.
It usually takes a few minutes and a screwdriver, with no rewiring. A hand screwdriver gives you more control than a drill and helps protect the finish.
Warm Ivory is a smooth, soft beige.
Scallop plates are made of heavy metal, with a solid, substantial feel.
Plates with the same finish name are made to coordinate. Because of how metal finishes are applied, slight variations in color or texture can occur, and these aren't defects. Other brands' "gold" or "nickel" can differ quite a bit, so if you're matching existing hardware, compare our photos in your own lighting or ask us. Screens show color differently, too.

Wipe the plate with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. For anything sticky, use a drop of mild soap and water, then dry. Spray cleaners onto the cloth, never onto the plate, and avoid abrasive pads, bleach, ammonia and metal polishes, which can wear the finish.
